In the INX media money laundering case, Karti Chidambaram, on Saturday filed a caveat in the Supreme Court not to give any ruling without hearing him if the Enforcement Directorate challenges a Delhi High Court’s interim order giving him protection from arrest till March 20, one of the juniors to lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi said.
Mr Singhvi is representing Karti along with senior lawyer Kapil Sibal in Patiala House Court and Supreme Court.
It was not immediately clear as to when Karti’s plea would come up for hearing before the apex court.
Karti on Saturday pleaded for hearing his plea following the extension of police custody ordered by a special Central Bureau of Investigation court yesterday.
He appealed to the Supreme Court not to give any ruling without hearing him if the ED challenges Delhi High court’s interim order in the case on Friday giving him protection from arrest.
The son of former Finance Minister in the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government, P Chidambaram, has been arraigned for alleged involvement in Foreign Investment Promotion Board clearance in 2007 for Rs 305 crore irregular Foreign Direct Investment in INX media.
On November 20, last year, the apex court had allowed with certain terms and conditions Karti’s plea to go to the United Kingdom from December 1 to 10 in connection with his daughter’s education.
