Indian flight carrying medical supplies and relief material for Wuhan is still awaiting clearance from China. India submitted its request well in advance for a scheduled flight on 20th February.
The flight carrying relief supplies to China will also bring back the remaining Indian nationals from Wuhan. Even though the Chinese side continues to maintain there is no delay but inexplicably the clearance has not been given even after 2 days of the scheduled flight. Items being supplied are gloves, surgical masks, feeding and infusion pumps and defibrillators based on the requirements as indicated by the Chinese side.
Meanwhile, Indian nationals in Wuhan continue their long wait for the flight which will evacuate them to India. The delay is causing them and their family members in India tremendous mental anguish. Relief and evacuation flights from other countries are still going on, including Japan, Ukraine and France.
Indian Embassy in Beijing is continuously pursuing the Chinese authorities’ necessary clearance for the relief flight at the earliest. The Embassy has requested the Indians in Wuhan to inform it about any problems related to the availability of food or water or any other issue at their place of residence so that those can be pursued with the relevant Chinese authorities. Indian Embassy has also urged all the Indians in Wuhan to remain calm and wait for further s from it. It has assured that sufficient advance notice will be given before the evacuation process.
