Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar arrived in Shanghai on his first official visit to China. During the visit, Mr Parrikar will hold talks with the country’s top political and defence leaders.
The Defence Minister’s visit comes amid concerns in India about China’s move to block its bid to have Jaish-e-Mohammad Chief Masood Azhar designated as a terrorist by the United Nations in the aftermath of the terror attack on the Pathankot air base in January this year.
The tour follows high-level visits by top Chinese defence officials, including Central Military Commission Vice Chairman General Fan Changlong, to India last year.
