Army foils infiltration bid in J&K’s Poonch sector

An infiltration bid was foiled by the alert and vigilant troops of Indian Army in the densely forested area along Line of Control (LC) in Poonch sector in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday morning.

On noticing some suspicious activity, the alert troops deployed along LC challenged a group of 2-3 infiltrators who were attempting to cross the LOC. The group immediately opened fire which was responded to in equal measure by the troops, forcing the group to flee back.

Government forces have launched a major search operation in different areas of Baramulla district in north Kashmir.

According to reports, searches are being carried out in Drangbal, Faqir Wani, Gousia Colony, Suhail Colony, Al-mustafa Colony areas by Indian Army and state police. Sources said forces have an input about the presence of rebels in these areas.

This comes close on the heels of a search operation in the same district which resulted in the arrest of 44 persons and seizure of petrol bombs and LeT and Jaish letter pads from them.

Meanwhile, a ceasefire violation by Pakistan has been reported from the Hiranagar sector on Saturday morning. BSF sources said that it was effectively retaliated by BSF troops. Some casualties have been caused on the other side of border.

During the operation, one of BSF soldier suffered bullet injury. He was evacuated to GMC Jammu where his condition has been reported to be critical.

Another Unprovoked Ceasefire Violations by Pakistan in Rajouri Sector from today afternoon also reported by using small arms and automatics.

Indian Army is responding appropriately and befittingly to the attacks.
