India won the first match of the five-match one day international Cricket series against the West Indies by eight wickets in Guwahati. Chasing a target of 323 runs, India made 326 in 42.1 overs, losing two wickets.

Rohit Sharma made a superb 152 off 117 balls and remained not out. Captain Virat Kohli who made 140 off 107 balls was declared Man of the Match.

Earlier, put into bat, West Indies scored 322 runs in the stipulated 50 overs, losing eight wickets. Shimron Hetmyer scored a fine 106 off 78 balls. The second one-dayer will be played in Visakhapatnam on the 24th of this month.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s centuries led the way as India chased down a 323-run target set by West Indies in Guwahati. The hosts won the match with eight wickets and 47 balls to spare and took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. Kohli and Rohit shared a 246-run stand for the second wicket which put the game completely out of the reach for the West Indies.
