Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar has said that the Government is trying to bring down the defence procurement process to three years from present an average of five years.
Addressing annual session of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry in New Delhi on Saturday, Mr Parrikar said the government will bring out a comprehensive document on the Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP) to satisfaction of India Inc in general and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in particular.
The Defence Minister urged members of industry to give a critical view on the proposed DPP as their criticism would enable the government in preparing the document of simplified procedures.
He said it will help in making India self reliant in defence production as well.
