28 contracts have been signed with Indian and Foreign vendors in the last six months for capital procurement of defence equipment. This was informed by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar in Rajya Sabha today. He said, the Capital Procurement of defence equipment is made as per Defence Procurement Procedure .
Mr Parrikar said that 28 contracts signed include 18 contracts signed with Indian vendors and 10 contracts signed with vendors from foreign countries such as USA, Sweden, Russia and Israel with a total value of around Rs 37,000 crores.
The Minister said, a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with the government of France in January this year for the purchase of Rafale Aircraft. An arrangement has been signed in December last year with the government of Russia on Cooperation in the field of Helicopter Engineering.
