Nation is paying homage to first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary today. President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari, former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and other dignitaries paid tributes to Pt.
Nehru at his memorial Shanti Van in the national capital. A series of functions is being organised to highlight his contribution to nation building.
The Congress Seva Dal will hold Jawahar March rally from Patiala House Court to commemorate the birth anniversary of Pt. Nehru. Home Minister Rajnath Singh will participate in a function at Teen Murti organsied to commemorate the closing ceremony of 125th birth anniversary of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru.
The day is also celebrated as Children’s Day.
