India and New Zealand today signed three agreements in the areas of double taxation avoidance, food security and sports. In his statement after holding delegation level talks with visiting New Zealand Prime Minister John Key in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, he and Mr key discussed ways to further boost trade and investments between the two countries.

Mr Modi thanked New Zealand for its support to India joining a reformed UN Security Council as a permanent member. Mr Modi said, the two sides have agreed to continue to work closely towards an early conclusion of a balanced and mutually beneficial Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA).

The Prime Minister said, terrorism remains one of the greatest challenges to global peace and security. He said, nations who believe in humanity need to coordinate actions. The two sides agreed to strengthen the security and intelligence cooperation against terrorism and radicalization.

In the morning, Mr Key was accorded a ceremonial reception at the forecourts of Rashtrapati Bhavan with a grand welcome ceremony followed by the Guard of Honour.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Mr Key and his wife Bronagh Key. The New Zealand Prime Minister also visited Rajghat and paid floral tributes to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. Minister of State for External Affairs M J Akbar called on Mr Key.

The visiting dignitary will also call on President Pranab Mukherjee during his stay. He will also visit Kochi on a short tour to the new Cochin International Terminal and oversee the work undertaken by New Zealand company, Glidepath.

Mr Key, accompanied by a high-level business and education delegation, arrived in the national capital last evening.
