Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said he did politics for the welfare of defence personnel whereas Prime Minister Narendra Modi did that to snatch their rights.
The Delhi Chief Minister, who attended the funeral of ex-serviceman Ram Kishan Grewal, who had committed suicide over the delay in implementation of the OROP scheme, also announced Rs 1 crore for the victim’s family. He said the Delhi government would give the martyr’s status to the deceased.
Earlier, the body of the ex-serviceman arrived at his native Bamla village in Bhiwani district in the wee hours of Thursday.
Politicians cutting across party lines attended the funeral. These included Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Deepender Hooda, Randeep Surjewala, Kiran Choudhry, Kumari Selja and Kuldeep Bishnoi. BJP minister KL Panwar, MP Dharambir and AAP leader Naveen Jaihind were also present.
