UNION Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for the 97th battalion of Rapid Action Force in Bullapur near Bhadravathi in Shimoga district of Karnataka Saturday.
To be built on 50 acres land, the campus will have training centre, administrative block, stadium and a Kendriya Vidyalaya. Speaking on the occasion, the Home minister recalled the crucial role of Rapid Action Force in controlling riots, countering the insurgents and managing the crowd during religious gatherings.
Saying that RAF personnel work under strenuous circumstances, he asked the public to visit the National Police Memorial in New Delhi to pay their respects to those who sacrificed their life in the line of duty. Mr.Shah informed that the Central Government has allocated 800 crore rupees for police reforms, built 13000 houses and 113 barracks at a cost of 3000 crore rupees for Central police forces and increased the compensation up to 50 lakh rupees for the martyrs.
He pointed out that the decision to begin National Forensic Sciences University and National Defence University will create specialised work force in this line of specialisation. Speaking about the vaccination drive launched today by the Prime Minister, he said that fight against Corona was fought successfully in India because 130 crore population unitedly waged a battle against it.
Prime Minister, he noted, took the people into confidence and combated against the pandemic. India today has the lowest fatality rate and a better recovery rate as compared to other countries.
