Holi, the festival of colours, celebrated across the country with traditional fanfare and gaiety on Thursday. President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted people on the occasion.
In Delhi, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, M Venkaiah Naidu, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, BJP president Amit Shah, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi celebrated the festival at their residences with people.
In Uttar Pradesh, the festival was celebrated in the eastern parts of the state including Lucknow, Jhansi on Wednesday while in the western districts including Bareilly, Meerut and Agra, it was celebrated on Thursday.
In Rajasthan, the festival of colours popularly known as Dhulandi was celebrated with gaiety and enthusiasm on Thursday.
