The third trial run of Talgo train between Delhi and Mumbai was conducted successfully. The Spanish built train reached Mumbai today morning at 2.33 am completing the journey in 11 hours and 48 minutes. The train had started from New Delhi station yesterday at 2.45 pm.
Earlier, Talgo had two unsuccessful trail runs in last three months. The nine-coach Talgo train consists of two Executive Class cars, four Chair Cars, a cafeteria, a power car and a tail-end coach for staff and equipment.
The introduction of light weighted Talgo trains in Mumbai Delhi route is aimed to reduce the travel time between the two important stations to less than 12 hours which is part of the initiative of the Indian railways to save transit time in the existing trains. Currently, the superfast Rajdhani Express train takes around 16 hours between New Delhi and Mumbai.
