Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has been reviewing the preparedness of various central government hospitals in Delhi to prevent and control Dengue, under the direction of the Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare Shri J P Nadda who has been personally reviewing the situation. To review the preparedness of AIIMS, Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC), Safdarjung Hospital and Dr. RML Hospital towards prevention of Dengue through containing mosquito breeding at their premises, Dr. Arun. K. Panda, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare held a meeting with the Director/Medical Superintendents of these hospitals, here today.
The matter of reported mosquito breeding in some areas within the premises of some of these hospitals was reviewed during the meeting along with the measures taken to address it. The hospital authorities informed that they have adequate number of testing kits such as NS1 and IgM Kits to detect cases of Dengue.
Subsequent to the meeting, it was decided that a joint inspection of premises by the hospital authorities, the concerned maintenance agency and representatives of Vector Borne Disease Control Programme will be undertaken on 22.8.2015 to assess the situation and take remedial measures. It was also decided that guidelines prepared under NVBDCP for prevention of Dengue for the health care workers, public etc., will be uploaded on the Health Ministry website for creating awareness on Dengue.
In addition, it was also decided that a training programme of sanitary inspectors and health Inspectors/workers of the Central Government Hospitals will be organised on 26.8.2015 at the National Centre for Disease Control to upgrade their skills. A special sensitization session for the health professionals of these hospitals and hospitals under Government NCT of Delhi on clinical management of Dengue will also be arranged by National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme (NVBDCP).
