Haryana Agriculture Minister O.P Dhankar today said that the area under horticulture would be increased from seven per cent to 25 per cent to increase horticulture production from 62 lakh metric tonnes to five crore metric tonnes.

The Minister was speaking on the concluding day of a 2-day workshop on ‘Horticulture Vision-2026’, organised by Haryana Horticulture Department in New Delhi, today. He said that protected cultivation would also be encouraged to change the scenario of agriculture sector in the State.

He said that a vision document would be prepared on the basis of suggestions given by technical experts, scientists and progressive farmers in the workshop.

An action plan would also be prepared to effectively implement this vision document. He said that a workforce of those well versed in agriculture economy would also be prepared to ensure skill development of farmers.
