The Gujarat Patidar quota agitation leader, Hardik Patel has been remanded to police custody till October 23. A local court in Surat sent Hardik in the custody in connection with the sedition case against him for allegedly instigating a Patel youth to kill policemen.
During the hearing Tuesday evening, the prosecutor submitted that Surat Detection of Crime Branch needed to interrogate Hardik to find out whether anybody else was involved in hatching the conspiracy to kill policemen. The prosecutor said Hardik had given inflammatory statement before TV cameras and the statement itself was akin to acting against the interests of the country.
