Mr H.S.Sohal, an Indian Forest Service from AGMUT cadre of 1987 batch has joined BSNL as its Chief Vigilance Officer. He is M.Sc. (Botony) Gold Medalist from Lucknow University.

He has been posted as: Deputy Conservator of Forest & Chief Wildlife Warden & Ex-Officio Director Environment, Chandigarh Administration.

Deputy Conservator of Forests (Central) Ministry of Environment and Forest Northern Regional Office, Chandigarh.

Associate Professor, Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun.

Asstt. Director General (EIA studies), Indian Council of Forestry Research & Education, Dehradun.Advisor (Environmental & Social Development), South West Mining Ltd., Delhi, Director, Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Combating Climate Change, Deptt. Of Environment, Delhi.

He is among very few officers, who have worked outside government. He was Advisor (Environment & Social Development) in South West Mining Ltd., Delhi (Dec. 2007-Nov. 2011).

He is Co-author of (i) Ethology: An Introduction to Animal Behavior (ii) Fourth Estate: Manual for Journalist on Environment Reporting (iii) Environment and Biotechnology (Edited volume). He was founder editor of a popular magazine “BIO DIGEST’.

He is also a visiting faculty to Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie, Central Academy of State Forest Services, Dehradun & several other reputed Institutions and Organizations.

He has recently been promoted as Principal Chief Conservator of Forest in his cadre but at present is on deputation as Chief Vigilance officer, Engineers India Limited, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, New Delhi since 2016.
