Union Home Minister Amit Shah today said, five Pakistani nationals have been arrested from an Iranian boat during a joint operation conducted by Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Indian Coast Guard and Central intelligence agencies. During the operation 526 kiligram of Methamphetamine and Heroin were seized from the boat, which was within India’s Exclusive Economic Zone.
In a social media post, Mr Shah highlighted that Modi government is determined to shield its youth from the scourge of drugs. The Minister emphasized that upholding a stellar example of coordination and cooperation among agencies the 16-day long operation also seized an Iranian boat.
The Home Ministry said that the operation was conducted from 14th to 30th of this month, reflects the strength of intelligence-led, inter-agency coordination in securing India’s maritime borders. It added that the Vision Document on Drug Control (2026-2029) unveiled by the Modi government provides a comprehensive roadmap to strengthen enforcement, disrupt drug networks and protect our youth and society from narcotics.
