A total of 4779 candidates have filed their nominations for the elections of six municipal corporations to be held on Nov 22nd. Nomination papers will be scrutinized today, while tomorrow is the last date of withdrawal of nomination papers.
The Secretary of State Election Commission Mahesh Joshi said that 1,640 candidates have filed nomination forms for Ahmedabad Municipal corporations, 1,154 candidates have filed nominations for Surat Municipal Corporations, 518 candidates have filed nominations for Vadodara Municipal Corporations, 591 candidates have filed nomination papers for Rajkot Municipal corporations, 471 candidates have filed nominations for Jamnagar while 405 candidates have filed nominations for Bhavnagar Municipal corporations.
Clear picture will be emerged after the withdrawal of nomination papers. BJP is in power in all six municipal corporations.
Counting of Votes will be held on 2nd December.
