AMN / AYODHYA

Ram Navami is being celebrated with great religious fervour across Uttar Pradesh, with Ayodhya emerging as the focal point of festivities. A major highlight of the celebrations was the ‘Soorya Snan’ at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, drawing widespread devotion and attention.

Over one million devotees have gathered in Ayodhya to mark the occasion. Pilgrims are taking holy dips in the Saryu River and at Ram ki Paidi before offering prayers at various temples dedicated to Lord Ram. The city is resonating with devotional hymns and Ram bhajans, creating a spiritually charged atmosphere.

At the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, rituals began with the morning abhishekam of Lord Ram. At precisely noon, the ‘Surya Tilak’ ceremony was performed in the sanctum sanctorum, during which a beam of sunlight illuminated the deity’s forehead for about four minutes, presenting a rare and symbolic spectacle. This was followed by the offering of 56 bhog items as part of the celebrations.

To accommodate the large number of devotees, the temple will remain open for darshan until late at night. Meanwhile, another grand celebration is scheduled this evening on the banks of the Mandakini River in Chitrakoot, where around 2.2 million earthen lamps are set to be lit as part of the festivities.
