Government will call an all party meeting to break the continuous stalemate in Parliament over Lalit Modi controversy and Vyapam scam. Meeting is expected to be held on Monday. Talking to media in New Delhi, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu said he was in touch with all the parties in this regard.
He said government is ready to accommodate opposition’s views for smooth functioning of Parliament and discuss all the issues in the House. He also appealed the opposition parties particularly Congress to re-consider its stand over disruption of Parliament as NDA is always willing to find a way out of this impasse. He said a number of important bills including Land Acquisition, GST and Real Estate are pending with the Parliament which are very crucial to give the much desired momentum to the economic growth of the country.
Meanwhile Congress has made it clear that it will attend all-party meeting if Prime Minister comes out with tangible proposal to break the deadlock in Parliament. Briefing media in New Delhi this evening, party spokesperson Anand Sharma said, Congress is not interested in photo-ops and the government will first have to tell his party what action is being taken on its demands. Mr Sharma said, stalemate in Parliament is the result of arrogance of the Government and the Prime Minister has made no effort to ensure that Parliament functions efficiently.
He said, the Government has no legislative agenda in Parliament and this shows its seriousness. He said, his party made it clear in the meeting with the Lok Sabha Speaker that it is up to the Government to ensure that Parliament runs efficiently.
