He said that food inflation had also come down by 1.61 percent by June this year. The Minister gave the details of the fiscal and administrative measures taken by the government to address the issue of price rise.
These measures include zero import duty for rice, wheat, onion and pulses duty free refined sugar for State and Central agencies without any cap on quantity, suspension of future trading in Rice, Urad and Tur forward marketing commission. Other important measures included allocation of 50 lakh tones of food grains to State and Union Territories for below poverty line families and 25 lakh tones for above poverty line.
