In an effort to end the logjam in Parliament, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Goel met key Opposition leaders at their residences in the evening.
Mr Goel met Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad and AIADMK’s V.Maitreyan to persuade them to end the logjam.
Earlier talking to reporters in New Delhi, Mr. Goel said he will be visiting key leaders of parties, including the Congress, AIADMK, TDP and TRS, to persuade them to end their protests.
He said the government is ready for a discussion on the no-confidence motions and enjoys a strong majority in the Lok Sabha.
He wondered as to why Opposition leaders were so eager to debate issues on television channels instead of doing it so in Parliament.
The Minister said Parliament spends on an average over 2.5 lakh rupees per each minute. He regretted that 14, out of 23 days of the second part of Budget Session, have been wasted.
