on Wednesday clarified that it has no intention to interfere in the constitutional rights of minorities.
“There is no question of departure from fundamental principles of non interference in the constitutional rights of minority institutions be their educational, religious or charitable”, an official of ministry of Minority Affairs said.
On proposed Legislation to Amend the Wakf Act, 1995 the ministry said that all matters regarding the amendments to the Wakf Act are now before the Select Committee of Rajya Sabha. It said that the Select Committee of the Rajya Sabha that has several leading Muslim MPs including a Member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board will give its report shortly.
It also said that several important Muslim Members of Parliament contributed to the debate and the Bill was passed unanimously in Lok Sabha.
The AIMPLB in its Hedrabad meet on Sunday observed that the UPA government at centre was trying to usurp the Waqf properties across the country and cautioned that it would not tolerate any such conspiracy and asked the government to come up with a clean proposal on the issue.
The executive meet also declared the Right to Education Act (REA) as the sword that is looming over the heads of minority and religious institutions and said that the act is a sheer violation of article 25 and 26.
