Govt may allow more flights on domestic routes

International flights to remain suspended till July 15

India’s civil aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) today said has decided to suspend all international scheduled commercial flight operations in the country till July 15.

But India may allow some international flights on selected route on case to case basis.Towards the end of March this year,, India suspended all flight operations in a bid to flatten COVID-19 spread.

However, after two months, on May 25 it started domestic flight operations but included strict measures. Since then upto June 24, domestic carriers have ferried atleast 18 lakh passengers.

Now to enhance domestic passenger traffic growth, the government has decided to allow more commercial domestic flights.

Currently domestic carriers are being allow to utilize only one-third of their capacity.
