Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani has said the government is working in a speedy manner to upgrade mini-Anganwadi centres to full-fledged Anganwadi centres. She said, there are over one lakh 17 thousand mini-Anganwadi centres across the country. Ms Irani was addressing an event, Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi in New Delhi today.

The main objective of the event is to highlight the criticality of focusing on early childhood care and education. As per the guidelines of the National Education Policy 2020 with a focus on Poshan bhi Padhai bhi, the government has taken up the goal of strengthening the foundations of the country’s future generations.

Under Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi, every child would be provided with at least two hours of high-quality preschool instruction on a daily basis. To fulfil the vision, Anganwadi centres will be strengthened with high-quality infrastructure, play equipment and well-trained Anganwadi workers and teachers.
