Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu today said, the government was giving priority to agriculture in the country. Inaugurating the Gram Rajasthan Agri-tech Meet in Kota, Mr Naidu stressed on the use of technology, research, storage and better management in the agriculture activities to enhance the income of farmers. He said, the Centre allocated 1 lakh 60,000 crore rupees for agriculture in its current fiscal budget.
The Minister also said, the NDA government has also approved 50,000 crores under the Prime Minister Krishi Sinchai Yojna to improve the quality and quantity of agriculture production in the country.
He said, under the National Agriculture Market, 46 lakh farmers and 90,000 traders have been enrolled from 16 states. Our correspondent reports that the 3-day event, likely to be attended by 30,000 farmers, will feature seminars, conferences and exhibitions.
The Kota Division has huge potential for investments in agriculture, horticulture and animal husbandry. As many as 20 MoUs worth Rs. 1000 crores will be signed on 25 May relating to different projects for Hadoti region.
Principal Secretary, Agriculture, Government of Rajasthan, Ms. Neelkamal Darbari said that after the success of GRAM 2016 in Jaipur it was decided by the Government to hold a similar mega agri-event in Kota.
The Division comprising of Kota, Jhalawar, Baran and Bundi districts has huge potential for increasing agricultural production, attracting investments in agri processing and contributing to doubling the farmers’ income.
The event will also showcase modern farming technologies and cultivation methods through live demonstrations and plantations at the Smart Farm.
She further added that GRAM exhibition will be a platform for ‘Custom Hiring Center’ where a farmer can rent modern agricultural machinery.
