Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the government is fully committed to ensuring the highest level of security and a smooth pilgrimage experience for devotees undertaking the Amarnath Yatra. Mr Shah said this while chairing a high level meeting in New Delhi to review the preparedness of the Shri Amarnath Yatra.
During the meeting, he directed for creating impregnable multi-layered security grid along the pilgrimage route with the coordinated efforts of the Central Armed Police Forces, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and all security agencies. The Minister emphasized to further strengthen the security framework with the extensive use of modern technologies such as drones, CCTV surveillance and advanced monitoring systems. Mr Shah added that the senior officers of various CAPFs and the Jammu and Kashmir Police will continuously monitor arrangements at camp sites throughout the pilgrimage route.
The Home Minister said, adequate arrangements will be ensured for pilgrim registration, accommodation, healthcare services, disaster management, and all other essential facilities. Mr Shah directed for the registration of local people and animals associated with the pilgrimage. QR code-enabled identity cards will be issued, and special camps will be organized for the health examination of animals.
Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, Director Generals of the CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP and the SSB attended the meeting. The Amarnath Yatra will begin on 3rd July and conclude on 28th August.
