No talks with Pakistan if they talk to Hurriyat and discuss anything other than ‘terror’

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has assured African Missions in India that Government is committed to the safety and security of African nationals in India. In a series of tweets, Mrs Swaraj said, she has asked Minister of State for External Affairs General V.K.Singh to meet the heads of missions of African countries in Delhi.

She added that General Singh will also hold meetings with African students in metro cities to assure them of their safety and security. Mrs Swaraj said, her Ministry will request State Governments to depute Commissioners of Police in all such meetings. The Minister said, the External Affairs Ministry will also launch a sensitization program to reiterate that such incidents against foreign nationals embarrass the country.

The Minister’s comments came after African diplomatic community decided to stay away from this year’s Africa Day celebrations in protest over the murder of a Congolese national in the capital and other attacks and harassment of African students and others in various parts of the country. The Missions have also sought strong action on the part of the government.
