TIS NEWS /

The indefinite bandh called by Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) in Darjeeling hills entered second day today with reports of sporadic violence coming from different parts of the city.

Police resorted to lathicharge as GJM supporters pelted stones in various parts of the city after they were stopped from enforcing shut down in government offices.

Police pickets and barricades have been put up in front of government and Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) offices and various entry and exit points of the hills.

GJM supporters began an indefinite bandh in government and GTA offices in Darjeeling hills yesterday demanding a separate Gorkhaland state.

Meanwhile, a day long bandh called by trade unions in support of tea garden workers demanding better pay affected normal life in four districts of North Bengal.
