Kolkata (AMN) Former Chief Justice of India, Altamas Kabir passed away in Kolkata today.He was 68. He was not keeping well for a long time.
He was the 39th Chief Justice of India and was appointed as CJI on September 29, 2012. He held the post for 292 days and superannuated on July, 19, 2013.
He was elevated as Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court on in 2005 and was made a judge of the Supreme Court of India in the same year.
Justice Kabir was responsible for the computerization of the Calcutta High Court and the City Civil Court and other Courts in Kolkata.
