A special CBI court in Ranchi will today pronounce quantum of punishment against RJD Chief Lalu Prasad and 15 others convicted in one of the fodder scam cases.
All the 16 convicted, including RJD Chief Lalu Prasad, are in Birsa Munda Central jail in Ranchi. The Special CBI Court of Shivpal Singh had held all the 16 guilty on 23rd December. Among those convicted in the case include former MPs RK Rana and Jagdish Sharma and some IAS officers.
Sentencing will take place in a case of 21 years old case of fodder scam when fraudulent withdrawal of more than 89 lakhs rupees had taken place from Deoghar treasury between 1991 and 1994.
Initially there were six politicians, six bureaucrats and ten suppliers, who were made accused in this case, but six out of 22 , six were absolved of the charges. The speedy trial was finished after the Supreme Court had directed the trial to be over within nine months last year.
