Small-cap shares felt the most heat among the broader markets, with Nifty Smallcap100 ending lower by 2.35 per cent dragged by Cyient, and Jupiter Wagons

Benchmark equity indices, BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50, ended the week’s last trading session on a lower note. The 30-share Sensex shed as much as 329.92 points or 0.43 per cent to settle at 76,190.46. The index traded in the range of 76,985.95-76,091.75 today.
Mirroring the Sensex, NSE Nifty50 also ended lower by 113.15 points or 0.49 per cent at 23,092.20. The Nifty50 recorded a day’s high of 23,347.30, while the day’s low was 23,050.
Benchmark domestic equity indices today ended the week’s last trading session with losses, snapping its two-day gaining streak. The 30-share index at the Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex, shed 330 points, or 0.43 per cent, to close at 76,190. Similarly, the National Stock Exchange Nifty-50 fell 113 points, almost half percent, to settle at 23,092. The broader market indices at BSE witnessed intense selling pressure. The Mid-Cap index dropped 1.6 percent and the Small-Cap index plunged over 2.2 percent.
In the Sensex index, 20 out of 30 companies logged losses. In the top laggards, Mahindra and Mahindra shed over 2.9 percent, Zomato lost over 2.7 percent, and Tata Motors dropped nearly two and half percent. Meanwhile, among the top gainers, Hindustan Unilever surged almost two percent, Tech Mahindra gained over 0.7 percent, and Nestle added 0.7 percent.
In Sectoral Indices at the BSE, 18 out of 21 sectors ended in negative territory. In the top laggards, Realty dropped two and a half percent, Oil and Gas slipped 2.3 percent, and Industrials dropped over 2.2 percent. Conversely, the three gainers were, Focused IT which advanced 0.44 percent, and FMCG as well as Teck, both gained over 0.2 percent each.
The overall market breadth at the BSE was negative as shares of 2,902 companies declined and 1,038 advanced while 119 remained unchanged. At the National Stock Exchange, 18 companies hit their 52-week high while 168 hit their 52-week low.
