After two weeks of negotiation, the final draft of a Paris climate accord has been released. France’s Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius who presented the global climate accord today, said it is a “historic” measure for transforming the world’s fossil fuel-driven economy within decades and turn the tide on global warming.

Fabius emphasised that the agreement will include pledge to keep warming well below 2C, and to endeavour to limit warming to 1.5C . He urged officials from nations to support what he hopes will be a final agreement. Speaking at the occasion UN Secretary General Ban Ki MOON said the document is historic, it promises to set the world on a new path to a low-emissions, climate-resilient future.

French President Hollande said the deal, if approved will be the first universal agreement in the history of climate negotiations.

Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar says we are happy that India’a concerns have been taken care of in the final climate draft of the negotiating text. Mr. Javadekar, who is representing India during the Paris Climate Change Summit, said the final climate draft is a balanced text and is a way forward for the world.
