The filing of nominations for the second phase of assembly elections in Gujarat will end today. So far, 719 candidates have filed their nominations for the second phase. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held tomorrow. Today is also the last day for the withdrawal of candidature for the first phase of assembly elections in the state. Meanwhile, the Election Commission is making all out efforts to increase voter awareness among citizens.

In Gujarat, all efforts are being made by the Election Commission to increase voter’s participation in the election. The Commission has started Avasar Rath from 3rd November. This chariot is increasing voter awareness by visiting 33 districts so far of the state.

In Ahmedabad, students in 111 schools took an oath to motivate their parents to vote. In Bhuj also 1000 school students were administered oaths. In Banaskantha, a human chain was formed for voter awareness, while in Dahod, the message of voter awareness is being given door-to-door with garbage collection vehicles. Meanwhile, Congress released a list of 37 candidates yesterday. In this, 5 sitting MLAs have not been given tickets while 7 MLAs have been given another chance.

Candidates of all the major parties are filing their nominations for the second phase as it is the last day today. Senior leaders of BJP including Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel are accompanying party candidates for filing of their nominations. From Congress, sitting Rajyasabha MP Ami Ben Yagnik, senior state leader Shailesh Parmar filed their nominations today.
