Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari today Inaugurated Emergency Landing Field -ELF on National Highway-925 at Gandhav Bhakasar Section in Barmer of Rajasthan.
Addressing the programme, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that India was always ready to protect its unity and sovereignty and it has the ability to face any challenges. Singh said that the country has full faith in its forces. Mr Singh said that the emergency landing field of the country not only creates enthusiasm but also develops a sense of security. He said that these emergency Landings Fields play an important role not only in the war time but also in disaster situations. He said that the Indian forces have played an important role during the disaster of Covid. He said that continuous efforts are being made to increase the operational capacity of our forces.
Minister for Road and Highways Nitin Gadkari described the moment as historic. He said that such landing fields are being developed at 20 places in other states of the country as well. Five such landing fields are being developed in Assam. He said that the government is constructing 38 km of road per day, which is the highest in the world. He said that many road projects have been completed in record time. Shri Gadkari said that efforts are being made to build an electric highway between Delhi and Jaipur.
Both ministers also witnessed aircraft operations on the Emergency Landing Field (ELF). Sukhoi -30, Jaguar and some more fighter and aircraft landed on this landing field during the programme. Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Chief of defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Bhadauria were also present at the function. Our Correspondent reports that this is the first time that National Highway is being used for emergency landing of aircrafts of IAF.
