Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated across the country today in a subdued manner amidst Corona virus pandemic. For the second consecutive year, no congregational prayers were held in Eidgahs and Grand Mosques.
Most of the faithfuls offered prayers in their homes this morning in compliance with Covid norms. Eid is celebrated at the culmination of the fasting month of Ramzan. In Kerala and Union territory of Jammu & Kashmir Eid was celebrated yesterday.
Earlier, Shahi Imam of Delhi’s Jama Masjid, Syed Ahmed Bukhari had appealed to people to offer Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at their homes in view of Coronavirus pandemic.
Shahi Imam of Fatehpuri Mosque, Mufti Mukarram Ahmed had also made similar appeal. Several other Muslim clerics and scholars asked the people to celebrate the festival with simplicity and offer Eid prayers adhering to Corona guidelines.
