The ED on Thursday arrested AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan in connection to a Waqf Board case, hours after he appeared before the probe agency for questioning. The money laundering case against Khan stems from a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) FIR and three Delhi Police complaints.
The ED, which had conducted raids on the premises of the legislator, has claimed Khan acquired “huge proceeds of crime” in cash through illegal recruitment of staff in the Delhi Waqf Board.
Arrested in Waqf Board appointment scam
Aam Aadmi Party leader and Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan is accused of illegally recruiting 32 people as chairman of Delhi Waqf Board. Along with this, he has illegally rented out many properties of Delhi Waqf Board. It has also been alleged that he has misused Delhi Waqf Board funds. The then CEO of Delhi Waqf Board had issued a statement against such illegal recruitment.
After Khan’s arrest, party MP Sanjay Singh and Delhi Minister Atishi went to his house.
Sanjay Singh targets Modi government
Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh posted on X and wrote, “Modi government is fully engaged in Operation Lotus. Ministers and MLAs are being arrested by making fake cases. A baseless case was made against Amanatullah Khan. End of dictatorship soon.” Will happen. I’m going to meet his family.”
