election-commission-indiaThe Election Commission has issued notice to Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha candidate ND Gupta over allegation of holding office of profit.

Official sources said, Mr. Gupta has been asked to appear before the Returning Officer of Delhi Rajya Sabha election.

Earlier, the Congress had filed a complaint against the AAP’s Rajya Sabha candidate from Delhi, demanding rejection of his candidature in the Rajya Sabha election as he holds an office of profit as a trustee of the National Pension System.

Delhi Congress Chief Ajay Maken had claimed that Mr. Gupta was appointed as the trustee of the government-owned National Pension Scheme Trust in 2015 and he still holds this office of profit.

Therefore he is ineligible to contest the elections.

Alongwith AAP candidates Sanjay Singh and Sushil Gupta, ND Gupta had filed their nominations on Thursday.
