The Election Commission has decided that electors who were issued Enumeration Forms but whose names could not be included in the Draft Electoral Roll on account of being marked Absent, Shifted, Dead and Duplicate shall be provided one more opportunity to get their names included in the Final Electoral Roll.

In a letter today, the Commission directed Chief Electoral Officers of Delhi, Maharashtra, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Telangana and Nagaland to display the lists of such electors afresh and facilitate the submission of their Enumeration Forms. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been asked to contact the electors and assist them with the process, including online submission through the ECINET platform. Special provisions have also been made for electors who have shifted residence within the state and homeless persons.

The Commission has also asked officials to establish a monitoring mechanism to ensure that no eligible elector is deprived of the opportunity to be included in the Final Electoral Roll while preventing duplicate enrolments. The poll body has directed officials to ensure wide publicity and submit an action-taken report. The directions will apply to Delhi, Maharashtra, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Telangana and Nagaland.
