Election Commission has asked the Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar to direct the political parties to ensure that advertisements which have the potential of aggravating the differences between different classes, ill-will and disharmony are not published in print media till the completion of election process in the State.
The Commission’s direction came in the wake of complaints received by it in this regard. The Commission has also asked the Bihar CEO to direct the newspapers not to publish such advertisements .
The Poll Body has also asked the CEO to direct all political parties contesting elections to send a copy of the advertisement released for publication to the Chief Electoral Officer if it is meant for publication in the entire State or more than one District.
The copy will be sent to the District Election Officer in case any advertisements published in the District concerned.
