Earthquake felt in India, Pak, Afghanistan.The magnitude was 6.5. Mild tremors were felt across north India.
The earthquake shook parts of India, northern Afghanistan and Pakistan at 12:50 IST AM Friday, witnesses and seismologists said.
There were no immediate reports of casualties. Tremors were felt in the Afghan capital Kabul and the Pakistani capital Islamabad. Seismological monitors in the United States said the location was 81 km (50 miles) southeast of the Afghan city of Feyzabad.
People in the national capital region rushed out of their homes. Jammu and Kashmir also felt the tremors. People in the Kashmir region rushed to safety in chilling cold after feeling the quake. Reports of earthquake creating panic among people also came from Jammu region.
Mobile network also faced congestion with worried relatives calling each other to inquire about the well being of their family members. Social media and social networking sites were flooded with the messages of earthquake.
