The festival of Maha Ashtami is being celebrated with religious fervour in several parts of the country.
Maha Ashtami, which is the third day of Durga Puja, is considered to be the most important day of the festival. The day is usually marked with rituals like Kumari Puja and the Sandhi Puja. In Gujarat, foreign tourists are also enjoying Garba in Ahmedabad and Surat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has greeted people on the occasion of Durga Puja. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, the world over, Durga Puja festivities are taking place with full vigour. He said, Goddess Durga epitomises strength, courage and compassion, and sought her blessings for the well-being of the society.
