Thane Police has seized over 18,000 kgs of ephedrine powder, also known as party drug Meow Meow, from a factory in Solapur. The powder is believed to be worth Rs 2,000 crore. Five people have been arrested in this connection.
The seizure followed a week-long investigation that began with the arrest of a Nigerian national for possessing 500 grams of ephedrine in Navi Mumbai on the 10th of this month.
Thane Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh told reporters the factory’s company does not have requisite licences from the Narcotics Control Bureau or Food Drug Administration and the State Excise to manufacture the substance.
