Prime Minister Narendra Modi today asked doctors to work for the welfare of society by focusing their attention on the unprivileged.

Presenting the gold medals to the outstanding medical students in the 34th convocation of the PGI, Chandigarh Prime Minister appealed to the doctors to focus on the patients instead of the diseases so as to understand the psychology of a patient.

He stressed upon the need to popularize preventive measures to avoid diseases by giving importance to Yoga and holistic medicines for preventive health care.

Giving the importance to technology in medical profession Prime Minister said society expects much from the doctors. Mr Modi said this day is important as Swami Vivekanand addressed the parliament of world religion in Chicago on this day in 1893. He also remembered the 9/11 incident.
