Delhi Police questions 25 people in CBSE paper leak case

Delhi Police has questioned 25 people, including 18 students, in connection with the CBSE question paper leak case. However, no person has been arrested so far in the case. Briefing reporters, Special CP, Crime, R P Upadhyay said, two cases have been registered and a SIT is probing the matter to unearth the case.

He said both the papers — Economic and Mathematics — were leaked on WhatsApp a day before the examination. Upadhyay said the police is seeking details about the question papers and the process of distribution from the CBSE. He also informed that one private tutor was named by the CBSE in the complaint and he was interrogated.

“We have registered two cases on the complaint of Regional Director , Delhi region of CBSE regarding leakage of Maths paper of Class 10 and Economics paper of Class 12. Looking at the importance of both the cases, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe the matter. In the preliminary investigation it has come to fore that both the papers were available on WhatsApp a day before the exam and exchanged among some students and tutors,” RP Upadhyay, Special CP, Delhi told reporters at a press conference here.

According to the police official, so far 25 people, including 18 students (seven college students and the rest school students), five tutors and two private persons, were questioned in the matter.

“The first aim of the SIT is to find the point of chain from the message originated. The second will be to find out how it was transmitted. The third task will be to find who are the beneficiaries. We have not arrested anyone so far,” he said.

“We are taking complete details of examination process from the CBSE and trying to unearth the conspiracy of the paper leak,” Mr Upadhyay said.

It may be noted that the CBSE on Wednesday said it had taken cognizance of certain happenings in the conduct of certain examinations as reported. Also, with a view to uphold the sanctity of the Board examinations and in the interest of the fairness to the students, the Board has decided to re-conduct the examinations.
