Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal today discussed strategies for Containment Zone management in the national capital with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Chief Secretary, Delhi Police Commissioner, representative of Home Ministry, District Magistrates, DCPs and other officers.

Mr Baijal advised field officers to focus on proper delineation, strict perimeter control, intensified IEC, active house to house surveillance with special focus on high risk population for their effective management as per Government of India guidelines.

He advised DMs and DCPs to constructively engage with Residents Welfare Association (RWA), Market Traders Association MTAs and volunteers for managing containment zones and enforcing preventive measures. During the meeting, discussion held on the Health Department’s strategies to increase availability of beds in Delhi to cater to the rising requirement. The Lieutenant Governor had directed hospitals to display information on availability of beds, applicable charges and ensure that all those who are in need of medical care are attended to.

Mr Baijal said the objective is to break the chain of transmission and reducing the mortality of COVID-19. He said, ramping up of bed capacity and medical resources should be the topmost priority in handling the pandemic so that surge in cases doesn’t overwhelm the healthcare system.
