Delhi government has decided to withdraw the controversial circular that allowed the two-finger test on rape survivors. Speaking to media today, Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said that they are banning the two finger test except for treatment and will issue a fresh notification today.
Mr Jain said, the circular issued has been misinterpreted and it was circulated on basis of an expert committee report. The Union government had banned the test last year, after the Supreme Court held in 2013 that it violates a woman’s right to privacy. Congress has welcomed the decision of the AAP government.
