PM expresses grief over accident at Raebareli NTPC plant

The death toll in blast at NTPC’s Unchahar plant in Uttar Pradesh’s Rae Bareli district has risen to 20. Principal Secretary (Home) Arvind Kumar said, around 100 people are injured and they have been admitted at different hospitals in Rae Bareli, Lucknow and Allahabad.
He said, many are in a critical condition. An NDRF team of 32 rescuers have joined the relief and rescue operations.
NTPC has initiated a probe to ascertain the reasons behind the blast. It said, the blast occurred at the 600 megawatts under trial production unit.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each to the next of the kin of those killed, 50,000 for those with serious injuries and 25,000 for minor injuries.
He has also announced to provide treatment to injured free cost at SGPGI Lucknow.

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the accident at the NTPC plant in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh.
“Deeply pained by the accident at the NTPC plant in Raebareli. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. May the injured recover quickly. The situation is being closely monitored and officials are ensuring normalcy is restored”, the Prime Minister said.
