The extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani will make landfall at the Odisha coast south of Puri anytime before 10 am. It is likely to move North-Northeastwards and cross the Odisha coast between Gopalpur and Chandbali near Puri.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the cyclonic storm was located about 80 km south-southwest of Puri and 65 km southwest of Gopalpur Odisha coast.
According to the Met department, the cyclone has gathered speed and is rolling dangerously towards the coast clocking 17 km per hour.
It also said the cyclonic storm is likely to cross Odisha coast with a maximum sustained wind speed of 175-185 kmph gusting to 200 kmph. Gopalpur and Puri have recorded wind flow of 90 to 110 km/h.
Heavy rainfall has been recorded at many places over Ganjam, Gajapati, Khurda, Puri and Jagatsinghpur districts last night.
